To wear to the party, or give as gifts – your choice! The bling is the thing! Craft these DIY headbands and brooches using Dritz buttons and easy hand stitching. You’ll then have to decide whether to keep them and wear them, or give them as gifts. Chances are, you might just want to do both!

Share pictures of your DIY headbands and brooches in the comment section below or on the Hancock Fabrics Facebook page.

Materials

Directions

Gather your supplies.

Print the pattern and cut out either the small or large templates. (Note: we used the large template for the headband and the small template for the brooch.) Cut 2 pieces of felt using your template.

Layer the 2 pieces of felt together (for stability), and stitch on your buttons as desired.

The brooch is shown here, but if you’re making the headband, stitch the frog closure to the headband first – one piece on each side (as in picture below). Then stitch or glue the brooch to the headband in its center (again using picture as a reference).

And if you’re making the brooch, just sew a safety pin onto the back. Note that you can use either the large or small patterns for either the brooch or headband depending on your preference!

This headband makes the perfect crowning touch to that holiday outfit you’re planning. And for the brooch, you can apply it to scarves, bags, gloves, hats, tops or dresses!

If you’re feeling particularly generous, these also make thoughtful gifts for all of your BFFs. You can mix and match the buttons you choose, based on the personality or design style of each gal on your gift list.

Have fun, friends!
