Quick DIY Fleece Ornaments (Kid-Friendly Tutorial!)

Christmas is such a magical time especially when seen through the eyes of children. I love involving them with Christmas decorations. I have a toddler and a preschooler at home so I need kid-friendly decorations and ornaments. I also didn’t want to spend a lot of time on decorations and ornaments since they are likely to be played with and destroyed.

I used some Anti-Pill Woodland Christmas Beige Fleece Fabric to make some quick and easy ornaments that the kids can play with, but they are actually cute and gift-worthy.

I don’t mind how many times my kids take these ornaments off and put them back on. The printed fleece has some cute characters that can’t be ruined. They can decorate their tree to their hearts content.

Supplies:
Printed fleece
Sewing supplies
Scissors
Ribbon
Batting

1. Cut out all the characters from the fleece fabric that you would like to turn into ornaments. You will need two characters for one ornament.

2. Cut out batting similar to the shape of the characters.

3. Layer one character, batting, and then a matching character. Insert ribbon at the top of the character. Pin so that the two characters match as closely as possible so that you can sew around the shape of the character.

4. Sew around the character with your sewing machine.

5. Trim about 1/8″ from the stitch line without cutting through the ribbon.

Besides being played with by little hands, these will make great gifts for little friends. My kids will love giving them away. I think the little foxes are my favorite. The woodland theme is so fun!

I had some leftover fleece so I made a matching Christmas pouf which you can see more of in DIY Christmas Fleece Decorations.

I love sewing, and I love my family. I started sewing in high and even though I made lots of mistakes, it opened a world of creativity for me. I studied clothing construction in college while working at a tailor shop, so I was able to learn both sides. Now I love making wearable, cute, inexpensive clothing for my two, soon to be three, kids. I also love making well-fitting clothing for me that I enjoy wearing, and I’m currently working on a capsule wardrobe for myself. I blog about all my sewing projects on my sewing blog (www.feathersflights.com).
